My life changed forever the night my husband died.I was left with a shattered heart, a heap of bills, and our daughter, EVERLEIGH. I don’t want to rely on anyone, least of all CREW GENTRY. He’s my first love and the man who almost destroyed me, the man who has let me down every time I’ve needed him.But when tragedy strikes a second time, Crew just might be my only hope.My life changed forever the night my brother died.I was left with a guilty conscience, a pile of mistakes, and little else. I take care of JULIA GENTRY, my brother’s widow and the love of my life, and their daughter. I know she doesn’t want my help, but she gets it anyway. I owe her that. When another disaster hits, I’m given the opportunity to make things right. I’m taking it. I’m willing to sacrifice it all.
Shera’s Review 5 of 5 Stars
When an author branches out and does something different, it’s got to be terrifying. Adriana Locke took that step by writing a story line on the opposite end of the rainbow from her past works. Sacrifice is so very different from The Exception and The Perception. Let me tell you. Different suits her and she does “different” damn well! From the very first chapter I knew without a doubt that this was going to be her best work yet.
Sacrifice is a heart wrenching, captivating, story of love, loss, trials and tribulations. A story of just believing you can be a different person, believing it will all end up just as it should be no matter what you must sacrifice. A book I surely will never forget. One you will not be able to put down, that I can guarantee.
Crew Gentry is like no other. He was a former wrestler/fighter that was destined for greatness until an injury knocked him down. When it knocked him down, it basically knocked him out because he wasn’t living. He felt like he had failed everyone in his life especially his guilt for his brother’s death. When things got hard, Crew walked away. Turning his back was easier then facing forward. Crew’s brother Gage, left behind a wife, Julia and an adorable little girl named Everleigh to try to make in this world alone.
Finding herself a single mother Julia struggles like most. She makes the best decisions she can to provide for the here and now. She provides for herself and Ever even though it’s not much. Her family is no help, more harm than good. Crew plays a big part in Ever’s life, although Julia gives him the cold shoulder. Knowing they struggle, Crew does everything he can to help them survive. Guilt eats away him, piece by piece.
“Life is about choices and I had made mine. It was time to stop worrying about it. Don’t talk about it. Be about it.”
When the unthinkable happens will it bring two people together and force them to forgo the past for one common goal? Will believing be enough? Is the sacrifice worth the payoff? It has to be right?
You will laugh, you will cry, your heart will shatter into a million tiny pieces. Undeniably you will fall in love with Crew Gentry. Not only do the main characters pull you in, but the secondary characters do as well. Specifically Will. I personally would like to, no scratch that. I NEED to know more about him. He is one of those secondary characters that you just can’t stop thinking about. This is a must read book. Bottom line. Don’t delay. Buy it. Read it. LOVE IT and get #sCREWed!
This is hands down my most favorite quote. It’s so true and touched me more than words can express. – “When things seem unbeatable, you have to keep pressing forward. Because no matter how bad they look, you can always win. You always have the power. You just have to realize it”

Kristin’s Review 5 of 5 Stars
Oh mother of all things good and holy. Crew Gentry…holy crap on a cracker.
“The first prince realizes that if he were a true prince, he wouldn’t have left her for the shiny kingdom. He would’ve taken her with him. So he leaves her with her new prince because he really loves her. Not more than he does, but in a different way.”
Julia and Crew had a thing in high school but when Crew left for college he left everything and everyone behind and didn’t look back until it was too late. Julia had moved on with Crew’s brother, Gage. Crew leaves Julia to be happy with Gage and goes on intent to screw up his entire life after an injury that ends his wrestling career.
“But just consider for one fucking second that me leaving you and going back to Minnesota was me telling you much I cared about you. And that, Julie, has never fucking changed.”
Married with a child when Gage dies unexpectedly, Julia is now alone with her daughter, Ever. A single mom with real world struggles of making ends meet and keeping her little family fed, clothed, and warm.
“You walk away when everything gets hard. You walked away from me once. You walked away from your mom when she was sick. You walked away from your responsibilities and good judgements and look where that got Gage. I can’t count on you Crew. I can’t.”
Crew tries to help his widowed sister in law but she makes life very difficult for him. She blames him for her husband’s death just as much as he blames himself.
“Fighting to live. Fighting to survive. Fighting to protect what little you have left. This I know all too well.”
When life happens can Jules put her differences aside with Crew and be a family that supports each other? Can their past love be rekindled into something lasting and real?
“And I know you love me and my mommy. So why aren’t you my daddy? You don’t want to be my daddy?”
This book was absolutely, unbelievably, without a doubt, one of the best books I have ever read. Adriana’s writing was different in this book than it was in the Exception or the Perception but it was even more amazing. This book is not the light and fluffy “coach” that we had with Cane and Max but that’s not Crew and Jules. There were moments where I was terrified to keep reading. Have faith and keep going – Adriana does not disappoint. I will recommend this book to anyone that will listen!!
“She’s been missing him a lot lately.”Julia’s voice is barely a whisper and my chest constricts. Our conversations don’t normally make it to discussing Gage unless we’re already arguing. The fact that she just brought it up shocks me and I’m not comfortable with it. I don’t know how to take it. I feel my jaw pulse with frustration and scramble to change the subject again. “Why is it so chilly in here?”
Her smile disappears and she tugs her sweatshirt nervously. “I didn’t know it was.”
“How can you possibly not know?” I start to the thermostat across the room when she clears her throat.
“The heater isn’t working right. I asked Lane to come by and look at it earlier this week.”
“And he hasn’t been here yet?” I shoot her a look and she shakes her head. “He’ll be here tonight.” I dig my cell outta my pocket.
“Crew, don’t. Please. The last time you called my landlord he was a complete jerk to me for a couple of months. I just got on good terms with him again.”
I scroll through my contacts list, looking for his name.
“Crew …” I know her doe-eyes are pleading with me. I also know if I look up at her, I’ll be somewhat inclined to give in. So I don’t.
