synopsis
Skylar Nixon is a twenty-seven year old failed actress with no Plan B. After a humiliating stint on a reality TV show crushes what’s left of her childhood dream, she finds herself back in her hometown with no money saved, no college degree, and no confidence she’s anything but a joke—a small town starlet who couldn’t hack it in the big city.
When she runs into former classmate Sebastian Pryce, she can’t believe the hot body and chiseled jaw belong to the shy, troubled loner she knew ten years before. He’s not exactly friendly at first, and she’s heard the rumors about his tragic past, but something in his sad eyes intrigues her. She only wants to get to know him better.
Until the night she wants more—and takes it. (Hard and deep. Twice.)
Are they just two lonely people seeking solace? Or can a disgraced beauty queen and flawed, frustrated man find some sort of happy ever after?
**SOME SORT OF HAPPY is a full-length, dual POV novel, complete with a happy ending.**

Some Sort of Happy is book one in the Happy Crazy Love Series by the fantastic Melanie Harlow. I loved her other books but this book just blew me away! This book was a different turn than Melanie’s other books and what a RIGHT turn it was!!

Melanie managed to touch on a very serious subject that isn’t talked about much and still write a light, airy, heart wrenching book. While your heart breaks at times, others you will find yourself in a fit of laughter or your heart pounding a mile a minute because you are in absolute love with these characters.

Sebastian Pryce is one helluva man. In school, he was not so popular mainly because of his issues. Now years later he has grown into one gorgeous, sweet, mind blowing man. He still has his quirks, but in my eyes they are just quirks, in his eyes they are the reason he will be alone forever.

Sebastian always had a thing for Skylar in school, I mean who didn’t she was gorgeous but he never let on about it. Skylar comes back home embarrassed of something she did in the past, she feels like a failure, little does this girl realize just how much spunk and will power she has. Set to find her way, find a new job and make it on her own.

Now these two run into each other almost 10 years later and well, the rest is history. Skylar and Sebastian have immediate chemistry. The more Skylar learns about Sebastian the more she falls. The more she falls the more frustrated she becomes. She wants him to let her in; the problem is Sebastian struggles and doesn’t know how.

“You’re a beautiful, brilliant, complicated man, Sebastian Pryce. And I adore you. But if you want to suffer here alone with your tortured soul because you think for some f***ed up reason you deserve it, fine. Choose suffering over me. But I can’t watch it. It will destroy me” ~ Skylar

The road isn’t easy. It’s rocky, slippery at times but beautiful. Will Skylar break through Sebastian’s walls? Will these two find love and finally let it in?

This book was witty, sexy, and heart-wrenchingly beautiful. Easily one of my top reads of this year! 5 fantastic stars for Some Sort of Happy!

Melanie Harlow likes her martinis dry, her lipstick red, and her history with the naughty bits left in. When she’s not reading good books, she gets her kicks from TV series like Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, Masters of Sex, Deadwood, Mad Men, and Downtown Abbey (although she wishes it were more HBO and less PBS). Melanie is the author of the FRENCHED contemporary romance series (FRENCHED, YANKED, FORKED) and the sexy historical series SPEAK EASY (SPEAK EASY, SPEAK LOW), set in the 1920s. She lifts her glass to romance readers and writers from her home near Detroit, MI, where she lives with her husband and two daughters.
