Well when one of my favorite author kicks off a new series, I am ALLL over it!  Sway is the first book in the Landry Family Series.

Barrett Landry is the mayor of Savannah.  He is currently in the run of his life preparing for the race for the governor of the state.  He has his fun, gets what he wants, when he wants it.  He sort of just lives his life going through the motions.  Stressful job, busy life, no time for a steady girlfriend.  Every woman he meets is perfect content with just being with him if only for one night stands and they only see the potential he could bring to his life.

And…. Welp, it would’ve stayed that way for Barrett until he meets Alison Baker.  She knows what she’s heard about him and he proves right when given the chance.  However, Alison allows something into Landry’s life that hasn’t been there for a long time.  FRESH AIR.     She is a single mother just trying to do right by her son.  Do right by herself.  She’s got goals and will never let another man steal her dreams.

Do these two let the walls come down?   Once Barrett can see the other side of life from politics, will he jump ship or hold steady?  Will Alison allow a man into her and her son Huxley’s life especially after what happened in the past?  Who can you trust, when it comes down to it?  Will YOU #VoteLandry?

While I love Barrett, I can’t hide that I am a tad more interested in his brother Lincoln and Ford.  Graham I am sure has a story, but I really want Lincoln and Ford’s.   I can’t WAIT for some more Landry tales to be told by Adriana Locke!

Sway is the first book in the Landry Family series by Adriana Locke.

Barrett Landry is currently the mayor of Savannah and is running for Governor. His life is up for everyone to see and have an opinion on. He is surrounded by people and lonelier than he’s ever been.

Alison Baker is a single mom just trying to do right by her son. She’s had the life in the lime light and it all back fired on her when her husband decided to trade her in for a newer model.

When Alison and Barrett meet by chance at a political event, Barrett is absolutely intrigued by Ms. Baker. While Ali’s body is saying hell yea, her brain and heart know better than to get involved with a man like Barrett.

Can Barrett prove to Alison that he is worthy of her love AND her son’s love?

This book was different than anything Adriana Locke has written before. It was a good book but I felt like we didn’t really get to know Alison and Barrett like we have other characters that Adriana has written. I will definitely be reading more in this series!!!

excerpt

“I want a chance to win you over,” he breathes, peering at me. The way his eyes search mine make it seem like time stands still. “Will you let me try?”

He forces a swallow and the look of hesitation, the internal fight he’s having, isn’t lost on me. It’s there, right beneath the surface, and when I add my concerns to the mix, it’s enough to make me balk. Just a bit.

“I’ll think about it,” I whisper, holding on to the little strand of courage I have left.

“Say yes.”

Instead of responding, I ask, “Where’d you get that scar over your right eye?” I reach out and press gently on the raised skin. I expect him to pull back, but he doesn’t.

My hand shakes as I touch his warmed skin. His forehead is silky and smooth. I’d like to run my hands over every inch of it, feel it ripple beneath my fingertips.

The corner of his lips twitch. “Lincoln hit me in the head with a baseball.”

“Bad reflexes on your part?”

“Wicked curveball on his,” he says, his face breaking out into a full smile.

“I thought he played center field?”

“He does. But he pitched some growing up.”

We stand inches apart, my hand gently brushing down the side of his face. Although I feel like he’d stand here all night and talk to me, it’s not possible.

“I really need to get back to work,” I say, trying to unlock my eyes from his.

“Dinner? This week?”

I can barely resist the look in his eye, the one that implores me to say yes. The one that makes me believe he really does want to have dinner and spend a few hours with me.

I need to get away, put some space between us while I can.

“We ran into each other tonight,” I shrug. “If we’re supposed to see each other again, then I guess we will.” I start to turn away before I completely buckle under his gaze.

“How am I supposed to get ahold of you? I don’t have your number,” he calls after me.

Heading up the steps to the Savannah Room, I glance at him over my shoulder. “You’re the Mayor. Figure it out.”
