Absolutely AMAZING book!!

Braunwyn has been through hell and back. She lives for her daughter, Emme, who is nearly 5 years old. Since that traumatic night 4 years ago, Braun hasn’t been living for herself. Until Levi.

Levi lives for his bar. He lives and breathes work. Until Braun.

This is a story of breaking through walls, never giving up, and believing in true love. This is such an amazing book. I have not read My Mind’s Eye (it’s on my Kindle though!) and other than some spoilers, you don’t have to read My Mind’s Eye before On the Rocks.

I highly recommend this book!

One Last Shot (Book 3)

 I read this book almost a month ago and I have been trying to right the review since then, either in my head or on the computer. How do you convey how awesome a book is??

“…in short, I’m the crazy Wizard of Oz, who really isn’t a wizard at all, and you,” she kisses my cheek, “you are my Dorothy, the only person I’ve ever trusted enough to let see what’s been hidden behind the curtain.”

Ok so we’ve all read the man whore turned golden boy stories. Nothing against them at all. I love them. Who doesn’t love a good bad boy? This is not that book. Nope. Claire is the whore (ok that felt REALLY weird to type). I don’t mean she’s literally a hooker. She’s just the “guy” of this book so to speak.

Claire’s parents died when she was young and as such Claire made a steadfast rule that she would NEVER fall in love. All love did was break your heart when it left. It was better to protect herself and her heart and leave love to the other suckers out there. This rule had remained from the age of 14 through college. In college, Claire met Matt (Matty) and all the rules went out the window.

Claire fell head over heels in love. Matt was her everything.  She was happy. She knows all too well that happiness only lasts so long. Love only lasts so long.

After witnessing a horrible attack on her best friend, Claire freaks out and accepts a job elsewhere. Moving herself away from Matt and ending their relationship.

What happens when Claire moves home and sees Matt again? Can Matt forgive Claire for what she did back then? Can Claire accept that not all love ends in heartbreak?

“You’re a chickenshit, Claire.” He cuts me off. “Chicken to take a f***ing chance on me being your happiness. Too scared that something might happen to me, but f**k, Claire, life is a risk. Anyone can just f**ck, it takes courage to love, and to be loved. Stop being a coward and jump toward me rather than running away from me. All I wanna do is love you.”

This book is AMAZING! It is the 3rd book in the series and, while it can be read as a stand alone, I would recommend reading the other two as well. Great great great job Gillian!!
