*Release Blitz/Review* Mess Me Up (Bear Bottom Guardians MC #1) by Lani Lynn Vale

Title: Mess Me Up
Series: Bear Bottom Guardians MC #1
Author: Lani Lynn Vale
Genre: MC Romance
Release Date: September 6, 2018
When Rome Pierce moved to Bear Bottom, Texas, it was his intention to lay low. To not be seen. To find a way to heal his body and soul—as well as his son’s.
Nobody would know by looking at him that he used to play professional football. Not with the Bare Bottom MC cut covering his back, and definitely not with his friendly smile completely obliterated.
No longer is there charm in each smooth word that comes out of his mouth. What’s left is an angry, bitter, scared man that’s terrified one day he’s going to wake up and his entire world is going to be gone.
Nobody knows what drove him to leave the game he loved—nobody but her.
She’s the one person that has helped him make it through the dark days and even darker nights. She’s the bright and shining star in his pitch-black sky.
And he doesn’t even know her name.
He should be afraid that she knows things that not anyone—not even his best friend—knows.
Yet, with each encounter, he gives what little bit of his soul remains, and before he knows it only two people on this earth—one dying, and one too afraid to live—make his life worth living.
Until one day he has to choose—the love of his life, or the life he brought into this world.
Two impossible situations. One decision that would change him forever.

Mess Me Up is the start of a new series by Lani Lynn Vale but has characters from her previous Simple Man series. We met Rome in Tyler’s book (Too Bad So Sad), and to be honest, I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about him. Worry not ya’ll – you will LOVE Rome!!

The book begins with Rome’s son being very sick (as we knew from Too Bad So Sad) and how he deals with this. It’s during this part of the book that we meet RP’s Biggest Fan. We meet Izzy as the housekeeper for Rome’s ex wife that his son absolutely adores (the cookies she brings when she comes to clean only makes him love her more). Over the course of the time that Izzy spends with Rome and his son, they become close.

Tragedy occurs and Rome pushes everyone away. His brothers from Bear Bottom Guardians are a little harder to push away, as is Izzy. Rome doesn’t want to do love again and he surely doesn’t want to have another child – he can’t do that to himself. When he discovers the true identity of RP’s Biggest Fan, he is forced to come to terms with the fact that he may already be in love again.

I really really ended up liking this book. Rome’s ex-wife is a piece of work, but it takes all kinds to make the world go round I guess. Izzy is AMAZING. My favorite thing about all of LLV’s female characters is that no matter what they have going on, they are always very secure in themselves. They know what they are and what they aren’t and the accept it and own it.

Can’t wait for more in the series!!

I’m a married mother of three. My kids are all under 9, so I can assure you that they are a handful. I’ve been with my paramedic husband now for ten years, and we’ve produced three offspring that are nothing like us. I live in the greatest state in the world, Texas.
