Today we are trying something different here on the Blog! Our first Author Spotlight featuring SETH KING!

Just who is Seth King? Well, I recently read The Summer Remains and it left me speechless. You can read my 5 Star Review below. After I finished reading, I was more than curious about the author that wrote such beautiful breathtaking words. He is the author of The Summer Remains (his newest release), The Goode Fight and Mrs. Robinson. He is is a twenty-five-year-old American author. He enjoys reading, writing, traveling, and spending time with his family.

I have seventeen siblings , I’m dyslexic, I have a miniature dachshund, and I really want to go to Rome, even though I’ve never been.
Our inquiring minds had a few questions for Seth check out his answers below!
What was the main inspiration behind The Summer Remains?
The author’s note at the end of the book is all about this question, so I can’t give away too much. But basically The Summer Remains was my way of dealing with my brother’s sudden death at age thirty. He passed away during a botched surgery just a few years ago, and this book was my attempt at finding meaning in the wreckage of his life.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
My entire writing regime is bizarre. From the placement of my writing chair (I like to face either the southwest or the northeast) to my mental state (I sink down into a trance that is nearly dreamlike), there isn’t much about my writing routine that is normal, and I don’t mind it at all.
Is there one scene in particular from any of your novels that you are most fond of?
The last scene in The Summer Remains will have a place in my soul forever
What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author? What has been the best compliment?
I don’t read bad reviews, and although I am grateful for any praise I may get, I don’t really take any compliments seriously, either. Both are equally as important if you want to stay sane as an author.
What do you do when you’re not writing?
Not much! I don’t really have any crazy vices or anything, besides my fondness for black tar heroin. (Just kidding.) I travel, hang out with my family, and go to the beach – that’s pretty much it!

The Summer Remains
The Goode Fight
Mrs. Robinson
Twenty-four-year-old Summer Johnson knows two things. The first is that due to a quickly worsening medical condition, she faces a risky surgery in three months’ time that may or may not end in her death. The second is that she would like to fall in love before then.
As spring sinks into her namesake season on the Florida coastline, Summer plays the odds and downloads a new dating app – and after one intriguing message from a beautiful surfer named Cooper Nichols, it becomes clear that the story of what may be her last few months under the sun is about to be completely revised. All she has to do now is write something worth reading.
Tender, honest, devastating and triumphant, The Summer Remains explores a very human battle being waged in a very digital age: the search for a love that will outlast this temporary borrowing of bones. In an era when many feel compelled to share and re-share anything about everything, prepare to feel a love so special, you will want to hug it close and make it yours forever.

We all have a story, we all have some broken pieces somewhere even if you hide them, they will always be there . I have many myself and I am sure you probably do too.
Cooper and Summer not only touched me in so many ways I could never put into words but so did everyone else in this story. See, there are very few books I can personally relate my everyday life to, in actuality I can count one up until now that even remotely came close.
I almost can’t put into words my thoughts on this book. I know I loved it, I will read it again, recommend each and every friend to read this. I know it’s the best book of 2015 yet!
The Summer Remains is one of those books that you read, you stare at the wall, try to collect yourself and stop the hurt you feel for the characters. Just know, Summer and Cooper had one amazing summer that you’ll never forget. As you go through the journey with them, you will feel like you are right there. You wont just read these words, you will feel each and every one of them. I wont go into details about the story, because you need to experience it first hand.
My heart literally is screaming in pain, it physically hurts right now and I am pretty sure it’s broken. I can’t even say I survived reading yet, maybe in a few days, maybe in a week. I’ll recover, I’ll bounce back but I will certainly will never forget one beautiful word I just read. Buy this book. Spend a Summer with Cooper and Summer, I promise you won’t regret it! ~ Shera
