Title: A Father’s Fight
Series: Fighting #5
Author: JB Salsbury
Release Date: January 26, 2015
changes in the span of a heartbeat—one tiny heartbeat.
Blake and Layla have lived through disappointment and regret, only finally
finding relief through the powerful love they have for each other. A love they
intend to fight to keep.
They’ve had to forgive each other, but can they truly move forward without
facing the pain of the past?
Layla’s been avoiding the phone calls. Nine months pregnant and exhausted, she
doesn’t want the complication. But she can’t run from the truth. Whoever’s
calling was there eighteen years ago. Unlike her, he remembers the night that
changed the course of her life, and he’s ready to confess.
Blake’s preoccupied with an email, a few simple sentences sent through cyberspace
that have the capability to rob him of his sanity, his freedom, and the people
he loves most in the world. When he’s called home for a mysterious reason,
leaving Layla isn’t ideal, but hope for reconciliation with his father combined
with his brother’s secrecy ignites a curiosity he refuses to ignore.
Putting the pain behind them is no longer an option.
To get the answers they need, they must face the past and open up old wounds
that threaten to bleed them dry.
“Amazing how quick life can change. There are periods where we soar and some where we plummet, but as long as we hold fast to what matters, fight for the things that count, we die happy knowing we did our best to battle for what matters most”
A Father’s Fight is Blake and Layla’s follow-up Novella. To say Blake and Mouse have had a rough go at it, is not an understatement. Determined to get their happily ever after they have jumped through many hurdles, many people wanting to tear them apart. The new baby is coming and just when you think all is copasetic BAM! The past comes back to smack you and say, unh unh unh. We aren’t done yet.
Blake is hiding something from Mouse. Mouse is hiding something from Blake, both afraid that the other can’t deal with it. Blake will do anything and everything to protect his new family. With the baby coming soon, Axelle is more than protective of Layla and so is Blake. He is on high alert and monitors anything to do with Layla because of their past.
“It’s been so long since I’ve felt Safe. At times like this, when we’re alone and I’m wrapped in your arms, it feels like nothing could touch me. Like the world could end all around us and I’d be shielded from it”
Now, they are all forced to deal with the past, the same past that is allowing them the future they are living now. Blake has to deal not only with a demon from his past, something he has put behind him and doesn’t want in his life but also Layla’s. Sweet Layla with what she thought to be the truth of her past, but things aren’t always what you remember them to be.
Will the truth set them all free? I don’t want to give the story away, but know you will get answers to all the questions you’ve ever had about Blake and Layla.
I absolutely love the banter between Layla and Blake. Blake is his usual self, funny, lovable and 100% Alpha male. JB knows how to create characters you can’t help but fall in love with and I adored this extra story about Blake and Layla. I just FLOVED watching these boys and their families grow. I don’t think I will ever get enough. Keep them coming JB! Well done! 5 Stars ~ Shera Book Lovers Obsession
