Shane Baxter is a criminal.   He is dark, intense, sexy, brooding, and certainly a true through and through bad boy.  Dark eyes that hold so many secrets, which you just want to climb into to find them out.  Just released from doing a nickel comes home to find out the one true friend he has is missing.  He will do anything to protect the ones he loves.    In the process he meets Dovie Pyrce, a sweet girl and not anywhere on hisconquest list.  Firey red hair, pale skin and freckles was just something on the Bax No No List.  Copper-Top just didn’t make the cut.

“ I don’t need some farm girl slowing me down or messing with my flow”    “It’s the freckles and the ivory skin.  You look like a little girl from the farm.  You definitely don’t look like you belong in the inner city, and you sure don’t look like your twenty”

But as she shows her strength and determination he can’t help but fall in his quest to find Race before it’s too late.  She’s lost; she’s now alone and has absolutely no one to rely on……  “ Not being able to do anything, just throwing all my eggs in the Bax basket, made me nervous and entirely exasperated”

Now that Bax is back on the streets things get crazy.  Everyone’s looking for Race, now everyone wants a piece of Bax and Dovie is caught up in the mix.   One guy on the street you don’t want to piss off is Novack and do you think Bax took heed?  Absolutely not, Novack and his Goons (Benny specifically) are the worst, but Bax won’t back down until he gets the information he needs.  The things he does to find and protect leave you on the edge of your seat your thinking is this guy for real, is he going to do that, OHHHH he just did that.

This book was fantastically written.   I fell in love with all things Bax for sure.  A bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks with a heart of gold.   A girl. that underneath is just as beautiful as her personality. A story that keeps you flipping pages and not wanting to put it down.   As with all of Jays other books this surely didn’t disappoint and I can’t wait for everyone to read his story!
