This is a beautifully written story that I simply could not put down! So much more than a forbidden love story!  This book deals with some sensitive issues.  From the feelings of two people, who in society’s eyes should never have feelings for one another, to self-worth, doubt and harm.  I think Melanie Harlow did a wonderful job intertwining it all of it and giving us a great story in the process.

On the outside Oliver is someone who is spoiled, selfish and gets whatever he wants.  He is a dirty talker, dark and twisted.  On the inside is someone who is tormented.  When Oliver and Maya are thrown together because of their parents marrying, he does everything he can to push his attraction for Maya out the window.  He teases, torments and even humiliates her, truly the devil himself.   He is completely obsessed with her.  Truth be told, Maya is the only one that seems to be able to draw out the real Oliver, at least his internal feelings that is.

Maya Childs  is sweet and shy, but as she grows up she falls more and more in love with the forbidden, her step brother Oliver.  Now that she’s older, she has come up with a plan devised by her best friend Quinn to draw out Oliver’s real feelings for Maya so she can seek vengeance for the terrible things he has put her through.   Will that plan totally backfire?  Will Maya and Oliver finally come to truths about their feelings for each other, will it be acted upon?

Will Oliver continue to use Maya’s weaknesses against her to feed his selfish desires, or is there a hidden meaning behind it all?  They both have their own demons, their own struggles but will they be strong enough to overcome them on their own, or will they need each other to do it?

This is a story of some serious twists and turns, it is one hell of a rollercoaster ride.   The vast variety of emotions you are taken through in this read will keep you intrigued the whole time and take you full circle.  You will be on the edge of your seat through this book, as you never will know what is coming around the corner.  It’s a dangerous game being played, between these two but I promise once you have the whole story you will be glad you took the ride!    I am excited for the next book, Fearless Fighter which will be Quinn’s story!   I loved this book and give it 4.5 Stars!  – Copy provided for honest review, Shera Book Lovers Obsession
